Faith at Work in Our Everyday Lives
Teacher: Shirley Lifschitz
 | Knowledge is not enough to live an adventurous, joyous life where one can be at peace and free from guilt, shame, and anxiety. It takes faith in Jesus Christ to have such a life. You may be saying to yourself, “But I’m a Christian and I’ve never experienced anything like that.” We will be taking a look at why you aren’t living that life today—why you do not have a practical, durable faith that works for you here and now. The Christian life is a life of faith. Christians are called to live by faith from beginning to end...from initial faith in Christ that promises salvation as a gift from God to a moment-by-moment life of faith that encompasses all the circumstances of life. This study, based on the book of James, will look at some of the great promises and principles of Scripture that both teach us how and encourage us in our everyday walk of faith. Love at Work in Our Everyday Lives
Teacher: Gale P
 | Paul’s approach to teaching us about love is very different. He shows us that spiritual gifts have only minimal value, unless they are exercised in love. He does not attempt to give us a very technical definition of love; instead, he describes love in a way which makes it very clear as to what biblical love looks like. Christian love is eternal, outlasting even faith and hope. If we measure the value of something by how long it lasts, love comes out on top. Love is the “better way.” A study based upon I Corinthians, Chapter 13, and how these words apply to us today in our daily life. Meet the Disciples
Teacher: Gale P
 | We will be sharing many insights into the lives of the twelve disciples who Jesus called to follow Him. We will trace the disciples' backgrounds and unique personality types, observe the many hardships they faced while learning what Jesus sought to teach them, study their triumphs (and failures)...in other words, we will "meet" ordinary men that we would like to know more about. Live discussion/chat sessions (optional) are held each Wednesday evening, at 9pmET, in the Mercydrops Chat Room. You do not need to register for the study to attend the chat. (Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have) To enroll: Click on the course name, insert disciples for the required key, click "enroll me in this course." |

The Prayers in the Book of Acts
Teacher: Shirley Lifschitz
 | The book of Acts reads like a fascinating, historical novel…however, it is even better…because it is true. It is the documented history of the Early Church, showing their dependence on the Holy Spirit and prayer as they were called to make tremendous transitions and changes…some being in their own belief system. Living By The Ten Commandments Today
Teacher: Gale P
 | This Study will begin in October 2008. Throughout this study, we will explore the Ten Commandments. Are they out-of-date, or are they relevant to our lives today? What circumstances were present when they were first given? Are the Ten Commandments solely to be viewed as "prohibitive" laws - or intended to make life richer and more fulfilling? What might the Ten Commandments "speak" to us as we go through our day-to-day responsibilities? How might they affect the choices we make...or sustain us during times of crisis? In our study, we'll take a walk through each of God's Commandments, see His love behind each one, and observe how the following of God's laws is able to transform lives today. |

Attributes of God: Level 3
Teacher: Jan Brown
 | The Joy of Knowing God: His Attributes
Do you ever find yourself doubting - or perhaps even close to abandoning - your faith in God? Or perhaps you think you never doubt Him, but at times your faith doesn't quite overflow into actions that demonstrate faith in God. Sure, you say God is faithful, but wasn't that you worrying the other night? We say God is good, but we didn't quite understand why He denied us what we felt was best for our lives. Or why He allowed a bad thing to happen when we were serving Him and prayed hard! Maybe we just didn't pray hard enough??? Welcome to the world of distorted views about God. The view we have of God affects what we believe in all areas of our faith (doctrine) and how we live out what we believe. Unfortunately today, all too often the Christian's view of God is bent or distorted by teaching that is more feeling based than rooted in the Word of God. This class will help you to learn what Scripture says about God so that you can live out the kind of faith that is lasting, steadfast and unmovable. This is a Level 3 course, it is our most difficult level of study and will require a greater amount of study, thought and input. |

Gifts of the Spirit
Teacher: Gale P
 | An indepth study on the Spiritual Gifts, focusing upon those listed in I Corinthians, Chapter 12 - as well as Romans, Chapter 12 and Ephesians, Chapter 4. Understanding the Gifts of the Spirit is important, because these Gifts allow us to have an impact in the world that we live in. However, the problem is that not every person who has the “Guarantee” of the Holy Spirit, uses the "Gifts of the Spirit." It is important for us to understand what the “Gifts of the Spirit" are...what they are not...how they work...and how they can be developed. Instead of asking: "What can I do for God?" (self-centered), we should be asking: "What does God want to do through me?" (God-centered). To enroll: Click on the course name, insert gifts for the required key, click "enroll me in this course."

The Road to Holiness: Spiritual Disciplines
Teacher: Shirley Lifschitz
 | Spiritual Disciplines are not meant to be drudgery but are to lead us to a joyful, rich, holy life—like the one Jesus lived. In Hebrews 12:14, we are commanded to “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” 1 Timothy 4:7 says, “Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness” (NASB).
Applying new techniques will remove the “rut” in which you are traveling and add excitement and joy as you conform to the image of Jesus.

I Think I've Lost My Mind
Teacher: Shirley Lifschitz
 | In this study, we will be looking at the mind of a believer individually and as part of a churches’ congregation. We will also look at our churches’ viewpoints and actions to assess if they are based on Scripture or on secular views. Not only will we be striving to increase our Biblical knowledge but we will also be experimenting with different kinds of disciplines to grow and mature as Christians. Holy Spirit
Teacher: Shirley Lifschitz
 | We must have a balanced view of the three persons in the Godhead—not focusing on one to the exclusion of the other. Jesus is central in our faith and the Holy Spirit glorifies—shines the spotlight on—the Son. The Son glorifies the Father (John 15:26). This exciting and in-depth study explores the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. To enroll: Click on the course name, insert spirit for the required key, click "enroll me in this course."
